I’ll come back to look again , but #6 is my friend of 60’s, Dan Boyarski, presently chair of the design module at Carnegie Mellon. I brought him in around ‘82? to give a workshop on corporate i.d. stuff, which I have little business involving myself, let alone art majors. Yikes, I was hired into the department to teach design curriculum, but really was a printmaker at heart with some hands-on experience in the design/print field. Thank god I took over the printmaking area when Larry Hortenbury left. He was and is a hero to many, including Tim Blake, and he knew more than me about serigraphy, among other things. I was very happy to move on to printmaking and drawing. One of the ironies of my career is that my colleagues (who are kind, or generous) refer to me as the “Renaissance Man” which tickles me. Trouble is, I got too many assignments due to that perception. Perhaps my most enjoyable years were making the transition from design and working with this particular group of people. I’m also grateful to those of you who, in spite of my incompetence in the philosophy and skill of graphic design, survived and went on to good jobs/careers.
I love this blog set up by Todd. It helps to keep past and present in perspective. I apologize for my website, which is incomplete and has some serious typos because I’ve not gotten around to making corrections since my student friend set it up for me. More to come on that. I’ve pasted in a link to Leaf Chronicle article which may or may not work. It’s about my move to NM in January ’08.

Ahh ok – I thought #6 might’ve been Dan Boyarski, but I wasn’t certain. I think I still have one of his postcards. I believe Scott and I may have even visited him at Carnegie Mellon Univ. in PA, once he returned. Noppol would always do something to look goofy if you tried to photograph him, and I didn’t recognize Sandra Traughber until Scott said it.
Adding to the list o names Scott and Ken began:
13. Carl (or was it Karl) Ivey (or was it Ivy). Scott, you never met C/Karl?
14. Chris Ferrell
2.Todd
1. David Carradine? Do ninjas ever really tell us their REAL names anyway? I can’t remember his ‘name’ but I did bump into him a few years after school and he was working in Nashville doing some engraving stuff and maybe some freelance illustration or something. I think it was Robert actually. Is it possible you had two Roberts in that class?
So far we have identified all but 1 (although David Carradine is a worthy effort, Grasshopper) and 4. That’s pretty good for twenty years ago, I’d say. If you know how to reach any of these people, send me an email from the link on the nav bar.

OMG! I can’t believe that picture, it seems soooo long ago. I hope each and everyone of you are doing great. In case you don’t remember me, I was the secretary in the art department when most of you were there. Times have changed. Like Bruce, I’m really glad to see this blog since I am no longer in the art department after 23 years just to read how everyone is. I will be checking this often to see what is going on. Take care.
Hi Sherrie! I definitely remember you. How’s it going?
